Police seeking volunteers to join New Forest mounted patrols

They want to increase numbers covering the Fordingbridge area

Police are turning to volunteers on horseback to help them patrol parts of the New Forest.

The Hampshire force is looking for local people to join their mounted rural operations, specifically covering the Fordingbridge and Ringwood areas.

Two volunteers are needing to carry out high-visibility patrols for two to fifteen hours per week.

The aim is to engage with rural communities and report back anything suspicious to police.

Anyone taking part would be given training and appropriate safety equipment.

But they have to either own the horse they take out on patrols, or have permission from the owner.
