A man's been arrested following a long police pursuit through South Wiltshire and into Hampshire.

At around 9:20pm on Bank Holiday Monday (29th May), officers spotted a silver Lexus being driven through a residential area in Wilton at excess speed.

A pursuit then began on Shaftesbury Road, continuing through Salisbury on the A36 and down into Hampshire, onto the M27 and into Southampton.

The pursuit ended around 9:50pm, where a man in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of drug driving and dangerous driving.

He's been bailed pending further enquiries.

There's now an appeal for any witnesses to get in touch with police.

Sergeant Ben Brewster said:

“I am seeking witnesses to the manner of driving, or anybody who may have been affected by the standard of driving of the vehicle involved in the pursuit.

"We are also keen to hear from anyone who may have dashcam footage of any part of the pursuit which could help our investigation.”
