Police are appealing for witnesses after a home was almost set on fire in Trowbridge.

The front door was set alight in the attack on Saturday night.

Police want to speak with anyone who might have seen two people in dark clothing running away from the scene.

In a statement, police said: "We are appealing for witnesses to an incident of arson that occurred in Shepherds Drove, West Ashton, just before midnight on Saturday (31/05).

"A front door of a property was set on fire and we want to hear from anyone who may have seen two people wearing dark clothing running away from the scene.

"Thankfully, no one was injured.

"Anyone who witnessed any part of the disturbance is asked to contact 101 quoting crime reference number 54250066186.

"We are particularly interested in speaking with anyone with CCTV covering Shepherds Drove and the surrounding area."
