Plans to build 53 new homes in Old Sarum
We have until the start of July to leave our comments
A planning application has been submitted for the proposal to build 53 new homes in Old Sarum.
It's been put together by Persimmon Homes, who want to put 46 houses on an area of land between Salisbury FC's stadium and Roger Way, while putting seven apartments in the vacant ground floor unit of the Old Sarum Local Centre.
All seven apartments and 14 of the homes will be Affordable Housing Units, so that 40% of the properties are.
There will be a total of 143 car parking spaces across the two sites.
The proposal says that the land remains vacant since construction and benefits from planning permission for a doctor's surgery.
Two years ago, on the 3rd April 2019, a public consultation was held at the Ray Mac stadium to set out their proposals for the land.
The application says:
"There were no objections to the development of Area A&F (location of new homes) and concerns were limited to future amenity in terms of noise and lighting from the adjacent football ground as well as the need to avoid on-street parking. The images below show how the proposals respond to comments received. In summary, these include reorientation of blocks and rear gardens and redistribution of parking.
In relation to Block C (location of apartments), there was concern that the proposed Doctor’s Surgery had not and would not be provided. The lack of demand from NHS providers is a matter for which Persimmon Homes, as house builder, has no control. Accordingly, the proposal seeks to utilise this vacant space to deliver much needed affordable housing."
