A public meeting is being held by the developers behind the plans for 135 new homes in Laverstock so councillors and residents can ask them questions.

Hallam Land Management are hosting the discussion tonight (Thursday 11th February) via Zoom.

They will talk about the planning application in more detail and what it means for the village, and then take queries from the public.

Nick Baker, Chair of Laverstock and Ford Parish Council said:

"We know this proposal for 135 new homes in the village of Laverstock is one which members of our community have strong feelings about. We are already seeing a high level of discussion on social media and in the local press. We have arranged this meeting on 11th February to provide an opportunity for local residents to ask the developers questions about their proposals.

The discussion will be helpful to us as a Parish Council as we formulate our official response to the proposals at our meeting on 15th February. We would also encourage local residents to submit their personal responses to the proposals on the Wiltshire Council website."

The Parish Council have not yet made public their thoughts on the planning application, and say they will be formulating their response at their meeting on Monday (15th).

Mr Baker told Greatest Hits Radio that the views of the villagers is vitally important to them:

"It's the point of a Parish Council, we are there to be the voice of the community and as elected councillors we all live in the community, we listen to our residents and our job is to convey their feelings to Wiltshire Council and obviously we can put that into some of the language of development law and apply that to the rules of the framework which development applications come through but what people think is central we are very keen to hear from all our local residents.

I think it's worth approaching every question with lets hear both sides of the argument, lets make an informed decision and hopefully it will enable our residents, when they write to Wiltshire Council to support or oppose this development, to have really good arguments and really be able to identify how this development will affect what is still a small village community."
