The RSPCA is warning pet owners in Wiltshire to take necessary precautions as the warm weather continues.
A yellow heat health alert remains in force for the county until later today and say they've seen an increase in the number of people visiting the vets for heat-related issues.
Andy Sheppard is from the charity:
"Lots of people take dogs out in in the hot weather. The dogs don't know that that very hot weather is is bad for them. It's not good for them. So it's up to us to use our common sense."
He addresses that normal routines might need to change in the summer.
"You need to think about walking your dogs out when the pavements are very hot.
"They're not going to mind waiting an extra couple of hours for their walk.
"You need to keep them hydrated, make sure they've always got plenty of drinking water."
Plenty of people are still making common mistakes.
" Obviously we all know about leaving dogs in hot cars. But you will still find people still do it for all sorts of reasons.
"Some of them thinking that they're only going to be a minute or so, but you should never leave dogs in hot cars.
"Bare in mind that dogs can get sunburned as well, so if they're light coloured dogs and they've been groomed recently so they don't have a lot of a lot of hair to cover them.
"They can get, they can get sunburned as well. So you need to be aware of that."
