The peregrine falcons at Salisbury Cathedral have welcomed their first chicks into the world.

Not one but two were born this morning! (Friday 23rd April).

Staff watching the cameras in the early hours of this morning thought they had seen one chick appear in the next box at the base of the spire.

When they checked in the daylight a little later on, they got a bit of a surprise as a second had joined it's sibling.

WATCH:

Salisbury Cathedral posted a video to their Twitter page earlier which shows the birds having their first feed together.

Four eggs were laid by the female last month, so we could see another two chicks appear over the next week or so.

What happens next is the birds will grow for approximately six weeks before they hopefully will be able to take to the skies above the city.

They will also be ringed, so that their movements can be tracked.

You can watch the peregrines' progress via the Cathedral's live stream cameras on their website.
