The first successful fledge from the tower at Salisbury Cathedral has been completed by one of the peregrine falcon chicks.

One of the boys, named 'Noble', took the leap of faith at around 6:38am this morning (Tuesday 7th June).

However, the same bird had to be rescued on Saturday (4th), after taking a dramatic tumble off the tower.

He was grounded on the lawn at Sarum St Michael and was rescued by Clerk of Works Gary Price.

Noble did take this flight very confidently though, and was seen doing a circuit with an adult.

It's now expected that the other three chicks will follow suit soon.

A RIGHT ROYAL NAMING

Last Thursday (2nd June) the public vote to name the birds came to an end.

In total, over 2000 votes were cast on Facebook with a number of options to choose from.

They were all inspired by the former names of the Queen's favourite pets.

In the end the winning names were Noble, Willow, Monty and Vulcan.

The chicks should all fledge soon

You can keep an eye on the birds and try to spot their first flights from the Cathedral on the livestream cameras.
