Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust have confirmed that another patient has passed away at SDH, having tested positive for Covid-19.

It takes the total number of Covid related deaths to 243 since the pandemic began.

A spokesperson for the NHS Trust said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Wednesday 9th February.

"The patient was in his 70s and had underlying health conditions. 243 patients in total have now passed away.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

There are currently 29 Covid positive patients being treated at Salisbury District Hospital.

The local NHS Trust has also called for people to continue doing what they can to curb the virus:

"We would ask the public to remain cautious and to take appropriate precautions to avoid transmission. We remind visitors to the hospital that they must wear a face mask when in the hospital and have a negative lateral flow test before entering the buildings.

"In addition, with the current levels of COVID-19 still in our community, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
