GPs and volunteers have been celebrating as more than 10,000 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered around Wilton.

The Sarum West Primary Care Network, which covers a 420 square mile area, have primarily been delivering the jabs at the Michael Herbert Memorial Hall in Wilton.

This opened on the 7th January as the first community vaccine centre in South Wiltshire.

Some of the 10,000 injections have been given to care homes in the region, as well as some house visits to those unable to leave.

The centre has been open since 7th January

Many volunteers have supported the centre with the rollout, including a team from Wilton Rotary, Wilton HELP and Bishop Wordsworth Sixth Form students.

On Facebook, Wilton Rotary President Peter Edge said:

"10,000 vaccinations have been delivered by the teams at the Michael Herbert Memorial Hall in Wilton today. Privileged to be involved with the Wilton Rotary team of volunteers with Wilton HELP and friends.

Well done everyone including NHS staff and Bishop Wordsworth sixth form."

It hits the milestone four days after the mass vaccine centre at City Hall Salisbury also reached 10,000 jabs.
