It's been in the city for over a year

A sculpture in Salisbury city centre is being officially unveiled tomorrow (Saturday 15th October), despite being there for well over a year.

Standing in the Guildhall Square next to the War Memorial, 'Turning Point' was gifted to the city in 2018 by artist John Maine RA.

It was then installed in April 2021.

The 4.2 metre granite model marks the 800th anniversary of Salisbury Cathedral while also reflecting the city’s recent recovery from the Novichok poisonings.

As well as the official unveiling, a new exhibition, featuring work by John Maine will go on display at Salisbury Library.

The exhibition will feature stone sculptures that are connected to 'Turning Point' and will explore the drawing process John used in preparation for creating the sculpture.

Drawings that explore the landscapes of his work, plus new drawings and sculptures will also be on display for the first time.

It will be there until November 16th for people to view it.
