For the first time since the pandemic started, there were zero Covid-19 cases recorded in care homes in the Wiltshire Council area in one week.

That was the seven days to the 4th April, with the number dropping by 12 from two weeks previous.

Public Health Director for Wiltshire, Kate Blackburn, said she was "really pleased" about the news.

There was one death recorded at care homes during that time though.

That brings the total up to 366 in the Wiltshire Council area since the pandemic started.

LATEST CASE FIGURES

The number of cases across all settings in Wiltshire is also dropping.

The most recent data recorded by the government shows that in the seven days to the 7th April there have been 84 positive results across all of the county.

That's down 21 in the previous week.

It means Wiltshire has a rolling rate per 100,000 population of 16.8.

This is below the national average of 28.1.
