No injuries after car crashes into house in Wilton

A house in Wilton has been damaged after a car crashed into it on Sunday evening.

The fire and rescue service was called to a reported vehicle fire at the junction of Portfield Road and Broadchalke Road, around 9:37pm on Sunday 25th August.

However, when the responding crew arrived, there was no fire, but a car crashed into a house close to the junction.

Fortunately no one was in the home with the building confirmed to be empty.

The driver had got out of the car without assistance but Police have informed us he was taken to hospital for minor injuries.

The Wilton fire crew made the vehicle safe and remained at the site until a building engineer was able to assess the structure of the house.

The car been removed.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police say they're continuing their inquiries.

“The driver, a man in his 50s, suffered reportedly minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

“Our enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
