Salisbury and Wilton won't have a main organised fireworks event for 2023.

The local Rotary Club, which normally organises an event, say previous locations used for the displays are unavailable this year, so they can't go ahead.

In a statement posted on social media, the group's said:

"This year the Rotary Club of Wilton and Salisbury are unable to host a firework display. Unfortunately our previous locations were unavailable this year and having found a superb alternative location away from pets, we could not secure transport and ticketing facilities in time.

"We are sorry to anyone who was looking forward to attending and hope that next year we will be back."

The event's been held at sites like the Livestock Market on Netherhampton Road for many years, and in 2022 was due to be at Salisbury Racecourse.

That got cancelled at short notice due to poor weather conditions.

Wilton and Salisbury Rotary say they have already agreed a date to hold an event at their new location in 2024.

They're planning to have live music, stalls, food and drink there.

The group also hosts Wilton's Christmas light switch-on, which this year will be in the Market Square on Friday 1st December.
