An initiative to make Wiltshire and Swindon safer at night has been signed by Salisbury City Council.

The Safety at Night Charter has been set up by Wiltshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner to take practical steps in improving safety.

Although already playing a role in the night-time economy as an operator of an evening venue, Salisbury Guildhall, the city council is acknowledging the issue of safety at night.

They are also stating their intention to ensure better safety at night in Salisbury.

One of the City Council Leaders, Cllr Ian Tomes said: “All sections of society should feel safe, secure and respected at all times of the day and night.”
