Decision looms on 70-home county town development
Developers call the plans a 'logical extension' of Trowbridge
Plans for up to 70 new homes in Wiltshire’s county town are set to be considered by a Wiltshire Council planning committee.
The development would be located on land south of White Horse Business Park in Trowbridge and, according to applicants Castlewood Property Ventures, would result in “a logical extension” to the town.
Wiltshire Council received approximately 40 letters of objection to the plans and the strategic planning committee will vote on the scheme at its meeting on Wednesday, March 19.
The site has mature hedgerows and a woodland belt along its eastern boundary with the White Horse Business Park and its northern boundary faces onto Bradley Road.
First submitted in 2020, the application originally sought consent for 92 homes and a 64-bedroom care home.
Following consultation, the number of dwellings has now been reduced, and the proposed care home has been replaced with public open space.
The latest documents state that the plans would provide “an opportunity to bring forward, much-needed, new housing in a sustainable location, closely located to public transport modes and a number of facilities and services in the local context”.
The case officer report recommends that the committee approves the development.
