New Salisbury District Hospital building to honour late Queen
It will be called the Elizabeth Building

The newest building at Salisbury District Hospital is to be named after the late Queen.
It will be named the Elizabeth Building, after a poll of NHS staff at the hospital wanted to honour Queen Elizabeth II.
The building will house the new Imber Ward, which will provide care for frail and elderly people, with the ward name also being chosen through a poll of staff.
The ward will provide 24-state-of-the-art bed for people needing elective activity in operations and procedures.
Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust Chair Ian Green OBE said: "We are delighted to have been given permission to dedicate this new building to the memory of our late Queen, as collectively suggested by our staff.”
The hospital had to get approval from the Cabinet Office to be able to name the building after the Queen.
“The Elizabeth Building, which includes Imber Ward, will provide elderly care in a state-of-the-art modern environment, supporting the Trust’s elective recovery programme. This marks a major milestone in our Trust’s commitment to deliver the very best compassionate, effective care."
The building's expected to open in just a few months, as it nears completion.
Mr Green told us that it's a 'real privilege' to have the building honour the Queen, saying it reflects the hospital's connection to the royal family.
"Salisbury District Hospital's had a long connection with the royal family over many years with our very strong military ties.
"To have that permanent reminder of the commitment and the dedication of the late Queen is something we feel really humbled about."
