New leader of Salisbury City Council elected

It was confirmed at the full council meeting on Monday (17th November).

Councillor Liz Harman has been announced as the new leader of Salisbury City Council.

The current ward Councillor for St Edmunds and Milford will replace the outgoing Jeremy Nettle, who announced he was leaving in October.

Cllr Sirman said:

"It is an honour and privilege to be elected as the leader of Salisbury City Council and I look forward to working with all the councillors in the coming months to promote the interests of the city."

For the past 15 years she has lived in the her ward after setting up and and managing the Salisbury Children's Contact Centre for many years.

Over the past year Liz has supported The Family Counselling Trust, a charity that offers counselling to young people who are experiencing mental health issues.

At the same full council meeting, Cllr Simon Jackson was appointed Deputy Leader.
