New homes for Urchfont turned down by Wiltshire Council
21 properties were planned in the south of the village
Plans for 21 new homes in a Wiltshire village have been turned down by Wiltshire Council.
The application sought permission to build new homes in Urchfont, on land south of Ballingers.
The plans described the project as an “excellent opportunity to provide a highly sustainable residential development within easy reach of a range of local amenities.”
However, Wiltshire Council refused the application due to the “unsustainable” nature of so many homes outside the limits of development of Urchfont.
They were also concerned about the harm to local rural character and the landscape, as well as the applicant's failure to secure affordable housing and other financial contributions for the site.
