New gym opens at Salisbury's Five Rivers leisure centre
It features all-new equipment for users
The all-new gym at Salisbury's Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre has reopened today (Monday 2nd September).
The refurbishment saw the facility closed for three weeks to allow new equipment and new flooring to be installed.
The new equipment includes additions such as SkiErg machine, curved treadmills, tyre flip, a plate-loaded hip thrust, air bike and a gym sled track.
It's been made possible thanks to support from Wiltshire Council, which is investing in leisure facilities across the county.
Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure, said:
“We are really excited to show our customers the new and improved gym at Five Rivers. We’re sure that they will agree that the new facilities offer some of the highest quality fitness opportunities in the local area, with really in-demand and coveted equipment now available.
“We want to encourage more people to prioritise their health and wellbeing and increase their activities, whilst also offering good value and safe, well-maintained buildings, which is why we are investing significantly in our fitness facilities across the county.
“We thank the customers for their patience whilst the upgrade work took place and we hope people really enjoy using the new facilities when they visit. Anyone who is not yet a member and wants to get involved, can take advantage of the re-opening membership offer.”
Works to upgrade the main studio and the cycle studio to include a virtual group exercise class platform have also recently been completed at the centre, giving customers more choice and flexibility.
The Health Suite on-site, which includes a sauna and steam room also reopens today (Monday 2nd September).
That's being offered to customers on a trial basis, so Wiltshire Council can assess the usage.
It was closed in early 2023 due to rising costs.
