New family support model launched across Wiltshire
The new model aims to give great support to more people in the county
New family hubs have launched in Wiltshire today (Tuesday 2nd April) to give families, children and young people better support.
The new model supports families with children up the age of 19, or to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities and allow for greater help and guidance in local communities.
Three centre hubs have been opened, at Five Rivers in Salisbury, as well as at County Hall in Trowbridge, and Monkton Park in Chippenham.
These hubs will have its own team of 'navigators', who'll be present in the community to offer support families need and make connections to other agencies such as schools and early years provision.
There will be further support brought to locations across the county at venues such as libraries and leisure centres, known as 'Navigator Locations', including the places listed below:
• Amesbury Library
• Bulford: The Beeches
• Downton Library
• Mere School/Town Council, library
• Pewsey The Vale Community Campus
• Salisbury Library and Five Rivers Health and Wellbeing Centre
• Tisbury Nadder Centre
• Tidworth Leisure Centre
• Westbury Community Project Hub
Cllr Laura Mayes, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, says they're a result feedback from local people.
“We have listened to our families and young people, and they have told us they want to access support, classes and advice in a way that best suits them. This may be a look for information online or having that opportunity to talk face to face with someone.
“Our Family Hubs model offers this. There will be opportunities for face-to-face support from trained, skilled staff and a variety of groups, courses, and classes on offer. There will also be that 24/7 aspect, with the digital platform offering advice and support any time.
The Council is working with Spurgeons in a contract worth ÂŁ3million to deliver the new model across Wiltshire.
