A new Chief Executive Officer has been appointed to Salisbury City Council.

Asa Thorpe started work in the role this week (Monday 5th February), following a 20 year career in public sector organisations in both Wiltshire and Hampshire.

It's a role that was previously called City Clerk and means Mr Thorpe is responsible for the Council's governance, and strategic management, led by the elected members.

He's been described as a 'good fit' for the role, due to his experience in a range of public services.

The appointments panel was chaired by senior Councillors from each of the political parties in Salisbury.

Asa Thorpe said:

“I am looking forward to working with Councillors and Officers at Salisbury City Council, and delivering on behalf of the residents, businesses and visitors of this great city.”
