Part of Netherhampton Road closed due to serious traffic collision

The closure is expected to last "several hours"

The section of Netherhampton Road, Salisbury, from the Harnham Business Park junction to the Salisbury Road junction towards Quidhampton is closed due to a serious traffic collision between a car and a lorry.

Police are in attendance and say they expect the closure to "last for several hours".

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said:

“We are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on the A3094 Netherhampton Road. We were called at 2pm today (12/07) to a collision between a car and a lorry. Emergency services are currently at the scene and the road is closed at the junction with the Harnham Business Park and at the junction with Salisbury Road, near to Wilton/Quidhampton. The road is expected to be closed for some time so please avoid the area and find alternative routes.”

Fire engines were also in attendance.

A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said:

"We were called to Netherhampton Road, Salisbury at 2.04pm after a road traffic collision between a car and a lorry. We have crews in attendance from Salisbury, Wilton and Fordingbridge, together with a heavy rescue unit and supporting pump from Redbridge in Southampton."

The fire service helped release a casualty who was trapped inside a vehicle.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
