Netheravon house fire caused by disposable vape
Firefighters are warning users to be careful
Last updated 9th Mar 2023
A fire in a bedroom in Netheravon's been caused by a disposable vape.
It started on Tuesday evening (7th March), when an attempt was made to recharge a device, making it explode.
The fire was tackled by crews from Salisbury and Pewsey, with a number of bedroom items left damaged.
Luckily the blaze didn't spread because the bedroom door had been shut, containing the fire.
Station Manager Darren Masini said:
“The fire started after an attempt to recharge a disposable vape caused it to explode. One of the occupants heard the explosion and raised the alarm, calling us for help. The occupants were extremely lucky to avoid injury following this fire.
“Single use e-cigarettes or ‘vapes’ are not designed to be recharged as they do not have the correct safety systems. These disposable models should only be used once.”
