Multi vehicle accident on the A36 near Alderbury

Drivers are being advised to avoid the area

There has been a four vehicle road traffic collision on the A36 near Alderbury this afternoon (Wednesday 8th June).

Wiltshire Police are on scene dealing with the incident.

One person appears to have been injured.

The road southbound is currently shut, with a diversion being placed through Alderbury village.

The crash is reported to have taken place at around 2:45pm.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area, as there are already high levels of traffic.

A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said:

"We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A36 near Alderbury at about 2.45pm today (08/06).

"A total of four cars were involved in the collision. One person appears to have been injured.

"A road closure is currently in place on the A36 at Alderbury following a collision at 2.45pm today.

"Traffic is currently being diverted through Alderbury village while the incident is dealt with.

"We are asking drivers to avoid the area."
