MP pens letter to Salisbury Reds after "challenging period"
He says more needs to be done
Salisbury's MP has written a letter to the city's bus operator saying more needs to be done to ensure they have a reliable service.
John Glen has raised concerns about Salisbury Reds reducing and cancelling services in recent months.
He says a number of constituents have got in contact with him to say they have been disrupted by the constant changes to the bus timetables.
Mr Glen says it's essential that they do everything they can to ensure there is a reliable service so people can get to school and work etc.
In his letter he appreciates the challenging economic circumstances they're facing as well as staff shortages but more needs to be done.
In his letter addressed to Managing Director, Mr Andrew Wickham, John Glen said:
"I realise that your firm is operating in very challenging economic conditions as a result of a decline of passenger numbers due to the pandemic, driver shortages, as well as earlier this month, a cyber-attack on the company's IT systems.
"Despite all these difficulties, thousands of my constituents depend on your services to get to work, educational establishments, and medical appointments. It is therefore essential that you do everything possible to ensure that there is a reliable service to allow my constituents to go about their daily lives without significant disruption.
"I am fully cognisant of the multiple challenges that Salisbury Reds face in providing bus services in the present climate. However, more must be done to ensure there is the provision of a working and viable public transport system in Salisbury."
Salisbury Reds have been contacted for a statement.
