Motorbike seized and cricket ball thrown at police during Salisbury Plain operation
They had to deal with a number of incidents throughout the day
Last updated 1st Dec 2020
On Sunday (29th November) Ministry of Defence Police did an enhanced operation on Salisbury Plain.
Seven officers in five vehicles were deployed to tackle any illegal activity taking place in the area.
They first came across a group of five illegal motorcycles.
One rider was stopped and subsequently reported for prosecution for no insurance or driving licence, while the bike was also seized.
Meanwhile another was handed a fixed penalty notice for driving off road.
DANGEROUS DRIVING
Officers then received a report of vehicle nuisance by approximately eight cars.
Checks showed that some of these vehicles had travelled from Surrey and reports kept coming in from safety staff and members of the public.
The group were continually disrupted by police throughout the day and didn't allow them to settle in one area.
There was a close call when they left the Plain though, driving dangerously and recklessly.
As they went through some of the nearby villages like Haxton, two drivers lost control due to the speed they were going, narrowly missing a house.
They drove at speed over the Northern Transit Route, causing alarm and distress to members of the public.
Objects like a bottle and a cricket ball were then thrown at police vehicles.
CCTV of this incident was captured and has been passed onto Wiltshire Police.
KEEP REPORTING ILLEGAL BEHAVIOUR
Throughout the day, Ministry of Defence Police recorded:
- 3 Fixed Penalty Notices issued
- 2 Traffic Offence Reports
- 1 Seized motorcycle
- 31 Police National Computer checks conducted
- 2 Stop and Searches under Misuse of Drugs Act
A statement on the Salisbury Plain Training Area Facebook page said:
