More than a third of Wiltshire people fully vaccinated against Covid-19

Tens of thousands have been given both jabs

NHA data shows 144,930 people in Wiltshire had received both jabs by May 9th.

Based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics 36% of the those aged 16 and over in the county are now fully vaccinated.

Of those to have received both jabs, 132,214 were aged 40 and over - 47% of the age group.

It means 12,716 people aged between 16 to 39 have received both doses.

VARIATION IN COVERAGE

The NHS vaccine data also reveals variation in coverage for residents who had received at least one dose between different areas across Wiltshire.

Across Wiltshire, 70% of those aged 16 and over have had one jab.

Areas with the highest coverage:

  • Devizes West, with 79.7% of people aged 16 and over given their first dose
  • Mere & East Knoyle, 79.2%
  • Downton & Morgan's Vale, 78.6%

Areas with the lowest coverage:

  • Larkhill, Shrewton & Bulford Camp, 48.4%
  • Tidworth & Ludgershall, 49.9%
  • Warminster East, 61.8%

Across England, 15 million people had received a second dose of the jab by May 9 - 33% of the population aged over 16 and over.

In total, 29.4 million people had received at least one dose of a vaccine by the same date, covering 65% of people over 16.

CARE HOMES

Despite the success of the rollout, some staff at care homes in Wiltshire have not been vaccinated.

The figures show** 4471 out of 5455 eligible staff, including agency workers, at older adult care homes had received a first dose by May 9 - meaning 18% have not had a jab.**

The Government is currently in consultation over plans to make the jab mandatory for staff over concerns for residents.
