As of yesterday (Tuesday 13th July), there are 4,046 school pupils in Wiltshire self-isolating.

Meanwhile, there is also 255 members of staff having to do the same after either testing positive for Covid-19 or being a close contact/in a bubble with someone who has.

There were also 91 unique educational settings with at least one case and a total of 249 positives across the county.

Under the current rules, entire class groups with someone who has tested positive in must self-isolate immediately, but that could be about to change.

From Monday (July 19th) schools can decide to adopt a new system where only children who test positive, and those identified as close contacts by NHS Test and Trace, will have to do so.

However, this decision is with the educational setting itself so parents should follow their decision, with just a week to go until the summer holidays for most schools.

Wiltshire Council say they are holding a briefing with headteachers across the county tomorrow (Thursday 16th July).

LATEST CASE NUMBERS

Meanwhile, the latest data shows that the number of Covid-19 cases has increased again in Wiltshire.

In the seven days to the 8th of July there have been 965 cases recorded in Wiltshire.

That's an increase of 226 in the previous seven days.

It means the case rate per 100,000 people in Wiltshire is 193.

The England average is 328.9.
