COVID-19: Three more patients have died at Salisbury District Hospital

It comes as the number of patients being treated with coronavirus continues to rise

There's been another sad update from Salisbury District Hospital this afternoon (1st January).

Three further elderly patients that tested positive for Covid-19 have died.

A woman in her 70s with underlying health conditions passed away on the 29th December.

In addition a man in his 80s and a woman in her 90s, both with underlying health conditions, died on the 31st December.

It brings the total number of deaths at the hospital to 77.

Bosses there say 'Our thoughts and condolences are with the family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

Meanwhile the NHS Foundation Trust also confirmed there are now 57 patients being treated in the hospital with Covid-19.

That's an increase of ten since Tuesday.

The numbers are now significantly higher than during the first peak of the pandemic in April.

Meanwhile all visiting remains suspended at the Odstock site.
