Man suffers puncture wounds to face in suspected screwdriver attack

It happened in the City centre, on the junction of New Canal and Milford Street

Police in Salisbury are investigating an assault in the city centre believed to have involved a screwdriver.

It happened around 2:30am this morning on the junction of New Canal and Milford Street.

The victim sustained injuries to his face including a puncture wound below his eye which needed hospital treatment.

The suspect - who is described as a man wearing black and had covered his face - is thought to have ridden away on a push bike.

Officers think he had been cycling around the city centre before the incident.

We're told to expect an increased police presence in the city centre as house to house and CCTV enquiries are carried out.
