A Dorset man is taking on an epic kick scooter challenge, riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats, to raise money for Dogs Trust Salisbury
Lee Nicolaou from Bournemouth has been inspired to undertake the 965 mile challenge in memory of his beloved dog, Eddy who he lost to cancer last year.
Lee felt so lost without his best friend he took up riding a kick scooter to help take his mind off his grief. He's now using his newfound hobby to commemorate Eddy, and to raise money to help many dogs find their forever homes.
Lee started in Land's End and is aiming to complete the challenge in 13 days, averaging a tough 75 miles per day.
Speaking about his motivation for the challenge, Lee said:
“Dogs are more than just a pet, they become your life and Eddy was mine. The experience of losing Eddy made me think about all the dogs that aren’t as lucky as he was to be loved unconditionally and have a lovely and fulfilled life. He gave me so much love and joy and I want to try and help even just one of the dogs in Dogs Trust’s care, so they too can enjoy a life filled with love.”
Lee has already raised more than £1000 for Dogs Trust.
Claire Rowe, the Manager at Lee’s local rehoming centre, Dogs Trust Salisbury, says:
“This is quite a challenge that Lee is taking on, and we’re really looking forward to following his incredible journey. We’re so grateful that Lee has chosen to support us, it’s very much appreciated by the Dogs Trust team and of course our dogs. The funds raised will go towards helping us care for the dogs, including treats and training, and to find their forever families.”
