Man rescued from tree hanging over River Nadder in Salisbury

The man had to rescued by a specialist water team from the Fire and Rescue Service

A man's been rescued from a tree above the River Nadder in Salisbury after hanging over the river for more than an hour.

Wiltshire Police called Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service to Lower Road around 5:20pm on Sunday (17/3) where a young man was hanging onto a tree over the river.

Crews from Salisbury and Wilton attended, along with a wading team from Fordingbridge.

They were able to keep the man safe until specialist water rescue teams arrived from Hampshire and Dorset, allowing the man to be rescued and his ordeal ended.

He was then taken into care by the ambulance service.

The Fire & Rescue Service's stop came at 6:22pm.
