A man has been rescued by firefighters, police officers and paramedics from fast flowing water in Netheravon.

Emergency services were alerted by members of the public yesterday evening (Monday 8th November) after they heard cries for help coming from beneath the sluice gate at the Old Mill.

Fire crews from Amesbury, Pewsey and two technical rescue teams from Trowbridge were among those who attended.

They were able to locate the man and secured him with a rope to prevent him from being washed downstream.

Crews from DWFRS and Wiltshire Police were able to use a ladder to assist the gentleman up a steep bank to safety before he was treated by paramedics and taken to hospital.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service say it came to a stop at 9:01pm.
