A man in his 20s has been released on bail after being arrested by Wiltshire Police on suspicion of manslaughter.

He was taken into custody by the Salisbury force on Friday (April 14) after a woman in her 40s was found unresponsive on Thursday evening.

At around 10pm, Salisbury Police responded to reports of the unresponsive woman in the car park in Culver Street.

She was pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

A cordon has since been lifted following initial enquiries by the police.

The cause of her death is now being investigated.

In a statement, Salisbury Police said: "We swiftly arrested a man in his 20s on suspicion of manslaughter.

"He has now been bailed with conditions to allow us to continue with our investigation.

"While we understand the community concern that this incident may cause, there is no wider threat to the public."
