Man assaulted cleaner in Amesbury after she accidentally got dirt on his shoe

He's been fined for incident which happened last month

A man has been convicted and fined after assaulting a worker at a service station in Amesbury.

Police were called to Countess services on August 23rd following reports of a disorder.

Ben Gennings, 47, of Salamanca Way, Colchester, had assaulted a cleaner by squirting water over her because she accidentally swept dirt onto his shoe.

Both the manager of the services and another member of the public approached Gennings due to his behaviour, and his actions were described as aggressive and confrontational.

On Friday (24th September) he appeared at Salisbury Magistrates and pleaded guilty to common assault and a Section 5 Public Order offences.

He was ordered to pay ÂŁ239 in fines, as well as compensation to his victim.
