Man dies after falling from bridge over A303 Mere Bypass

Police are appealing for witnesses

A man has died after falling from a bridge and colliding with a vehicle on the A303 in Mere.

It happened last night around 11pm when a pedestrian fell from a bridge running above the Mere Bypass.

A 39-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been informed are being supported by police, who say their thoughts are with the family at this time.

The road was closed for several hours overnight and has now reopened.

Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses.
