A man has been charged following a dog attack in Salisbury city centre, which left a woman with serious injuries.

43 year old John-Paul Hibbell, of no fixed abode, faces charges of grievous bodily harm and being the owner of a dog that was dangerously out of control.

An American Bulldog type dog attacked a woman outside Tesco on Castle Street on Saturday lunchtime (14th January).

Mr Hibbell has been bailed to appear at Salisbury Crown Court on February 10th.

The woman in her 30s who was hurt was taken to hospital, and suffered injuries described as serious, but not life-changing.

The dog has been taken by Wiltshire Police and put into appropriate care.
