Man charged with drink driving after Shrewton stop
A driver from Old Sarum was pulled over on the A360
A man's been charged with drink driving after being stopped by police in Shrewton.
The driver of a Ford Fiesta was pulled over on the A360 at around 5.00pm on Monday (7th August), after a report about the manner of their driving.
54 year old Simon Byers, of Osmund Walk in Old Sarum was arrested at the scene.
He was later charged with drink driving and is due to appear before Salisbury Magistrates on September 1st.
Wiltshire Police say they're cracking down on things like drink driving during an awareness campaign to tackle the so-called 'fatal five'.
They're known contributory factors to serious road traffic collisions.
As well as drink or drug driving, the 'fatal five' reasons also include speeding, using a mobile phone, not wearing an seatbelt and careless driving.
Officers say 'road users who commit one of the fatal five offences are far more likely to be involved in a fatal collision than those who do not'.
