Man charged with murder following Bemerton Heath stabbing
25 year old Maurice Jones is appearing at Salisbury Magistrates today
A man's been charged with murder, following a fatal stabbing in the Bemerton Heath area of Salisbury.
25 year old Maurice Jones, from Gainsborough Close, was charged late last night (Wednesday 23rd August).
He's been remanded in custody to appear at Salisbury Magistrates Court today (Thursday 24th August).
It follows the death of a man in his 20s from a stabbing in Gainsborough Close, just before midday on Tuesday (22nd August).
Wiltshire Police say they've not recovered a weapon believed to have been used in the attack.
Cordons around the scene has now been lifted.
Floral tributes have been left close to the scene - one of them reads 'To my brother, thank you for being a good friend, you'll be missed'.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker of the Major Crime Investigation Team said:
“Thanks to diligent work by officers and help from members of the public, we were able to swiftly arrest a suspect and I can confirm that he has now been charged with murder.
“I would like to offer my condolences to the family of the victim who continue to be supported by specially trained family liaison officers at this difficult time.
“I’d also like to thank the local community for their patience and help while we investigated this incident.”
