Man who attacked Salisbury bus driver convicted of assault

A man who attacked a bus driver in Salisbury city centre has been convicted, and will be sentenced in December.

Police were called to Blue Boar Row on Saturday morning (26th October), after the driver of a bus was assaulted, causing the vehicle to stop suddenly.

A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene, with a second suspect found later that evening.

35 year old Aaron Fernando, from Beauchamp Proctor Rise in Longhedge, was charged with assault; being a passenger causing a nuisance and refusing to leave a public service vehicle; and two counts of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour to cause distress.

He pleaded guilty to all the charges at Salisbury Magistrates Court yesterday (Monday 28th October).

Fernando's been released on conditional bail, ahead of his sentencing, also at Salisbury Magistrates, on December 9th.

The man in his 40s also arrested has been released with no further action.
