A man has been charged following a disorder incident at Salisbury District Hospital.

33 year old Cameron Mackay, of Rougement Close, Salisbury is due to appear before Swindon Magistrates tomorrow (Saturday 23rd January).

He's charged with assault on an emergency worker and causing without reasonable excuse on NHS premises a nuisance/disturbance and has been remanded in custody.

WHAT HAPPENED?

At around 9.00pm last night (Thursday 21st January), police were called to John Baker House to reports of a disturbance where a man was refusing to leave.

Due to concerns for his welfare, he was taken by ambulance to Salisbury District Hospital.

Police were then called to the hospital in the early hours of this morning to reports of the same man causing further disorder after being discharged.

It's alleged the man had tried to bite one of the nurses.

Inspector Pete Sparrow said:

"We take incidents of assault towards nurses and all members of the emergency services incredibly seriously.

Nobody should feel like they are at risk in their workplace, especially when that job is to help and protect the public.

Incidents such as this, are avoidable by simply listening to the advice given. Now more than ever we ask for all our community to support our emergency services, particularly the NHS, by being respectful and following the current guidance."
