The A30 near Salisbury is closed this afternoon (Thursday 15th September) following a serious collision at Pitton.

Two cars and a lorry were involved in a crash at around 11.30am.

One man has been freed from a vehicle and airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

His condition is described as critical but stable.

There's no details of any further injuries.

The road is currently closed between the A338 junction (St Thomas' Bridge roundabout) and the Pitton turning.

Wiltshire Police tell us that's expected to remain shut for 'some hours' today, while emergency services are on the scene.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
