Major roadworks in Fordingbridge town centre begin TODAY

Major roadworks begin in Fordingbridge today (Monday 10th June), bringing five weeks of disruption.
Hampshire County Council's resurfacing the High Street and Salisbury Street, while also removing some block paving and replacing kerbs.
There'll be some road closures and temporary traffic lights in place while the work's carried out.
The work's being carried out in five phases as follows:
• Phase 1 - Monday 10th to Wednesday 12th June - Kerb replacement works outside Fire station & Normandy Way. Traffic controlled with 3-way traffic lights between the hours of 9.30am and 4.00pm
• Phase 2 - Thursday 13th to Thursday 20th June – Closure of High Street and Shaftesbury Street for utility surveys, kerb replacement and block paving removal
• Phase 3 - Monday 17th to Saturday 22nd June - Closure of Salisbury Street to repair defective ironwork, kerb replacements and block paving removal
• Phase 4 – Monday 24th to Saturday 29th June - Night time closures of the High Street and Shaftesbury Street between 7.00pm and 6.00am for the road surface to be planed and resurfaced. Salisbury Street will also be closed for two nights from Monday 24th June
• Phase 5 – Mon 1st to Fri 12th July - Night time closures of the High Street and Shaftesbury Street between 7.00pm and 6.00am for existing gully and manhole covers to be renewed and strengthened.
Diversion routes will be in place while the closures are in effect - according to this map:
Access to the car park at Roundhill from Salisbury Street will remain open at all times, and pedestrian access will be maintained.
When Salisbury Street is closed, the X3 bus will not serve stops at The Rec, Hillwoods, and the Post Office / Caxtons.
Hampshire County Council also warn that the works are weather dependent.
