A series of police visits to construction sites in Ludgershall and Tidworth checking modern slavery and human trafficking has found everything in order.

On Thursday last week, PCSO Rupinder Kaur and PCSO Chloe Perry visited several sites in the area as part of Operation Aidant.

This is a national co-ordinated campaign which focusses on vulnerability, exploitation and modern slavery.

PCSO Kaur described the day as “extremely successful” with all sites found to have paperwork and business in order.

“Our checks were part of two weeks of work across the county under Operation Aidant aimed at ensuring that employees were working legally and being treated appropriately.

The force says it will always clamp down on law-breaking employers with regard to immigration and employees’ rights.

PCSO Kaur added: “It is the responsibility of all business owners to check the immigration status of those being hired.”

Anyone suspecting a modern slavery or human trafficking crime should contact police via this link, on 101, or 999 in an emergency.
