UPDATED: Serious crash caused road closure on A36

Wiltshire Police are urging anyone with information about the accident to come forward

A 70-year-old man from Somerset has died after a crash near Salisbury yesterday afternoon (Saturday 5th December.)

Wiltshire Police received a report of a two vehicle collision that took place at Pepperbox Hill just after midday.

The accident involved a blue Jaguar XF Estate and a Ford Transit van.

A spokesperson from Wiltshire Police said:

"Sadly, the driver of the car, a man in his 70's from Somerset, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Our thoughts remain with the man's family and friends.

"The driver of the van sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries and was also taken to hospital with less serious injuries."

The A36 was closed for six hours in both directions while investigations were carried out.
