An 11 year old from Bulford has been given an award by a national military charity - and named the 'Little Trooper of the Month'.

The recognition for Lilly Pidsley has come from Little Troopers for 'showing resilience and strength in the face of adversity'.

Lilly competes in jiu-jitsu and her latest competition was in Switzerland, bringing home three gold medals.

She had to go to the bouts with her Mum Marie, sister Daisy and Granny Karen - while her Dad was serving in the British Army in Germany.

Since Lilly was born, she's lived in five different houses, and been to three different schools, with her Dad being deployed overseas four times.

Marie Pidsley said:

“Life isn’t easy for Lilly and her sister Daisy growing up in the Armed Forces. She has made lots of friends since she started jiujitsu and the sport has really helped Lilly with her autism."

Lilly, who's been given a Little Troopers medal, a certificate and a £50 gift voucher, said:

“I am very happy to have received this award from Little Troopers. I love jiujitsu and would recommend it to anyone. I hope to one day be on Enyo, a women’s only jiujitsu competition, and want to be a jiujitsu coach when I’m older.”

Louise Fetigan, founder of Little Troopers, adds:

“We loved hearing about Lilly’s jujitsu success. That despite having to move home and school over the years, she’s stayed committed to her sport and found the strength and resilience to compete in the national championships while her Dad was serving away. We really think Lilly deserves to know that she is an amazing little trooper and we hope she wears her Little Troopers medal with pride.”

Little Troopers is a registered charity supporting children who have parents serving in the British Armed Forces.
