Little Amal, the 3.5m tall Syrian refugee puppet is visiting Stonehenge today (Sat 25 June).

She's been dubbed the 'little girl on a BIG journey'. Little Amal is the focus at the heart of something called 'The Walk'.

Since July 2021 Little Amal has travelled over 8,000km in support of refugees. The huge 11-ft high 'living artwork' of 10 year old young Syrian refugee child has walked across Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands, Poland and Ukraine to focus attention on the urgent needs of young refugees.

Amal has been making a tour of 10 UK towns and cities. The puppet's been following the route of refugees fleeing war.

AT THE CIRCLE OF STONES

Little Amal's appearance at Stonehenge is only a flying visit, and she's there from 9.30am - 10am. You can meet her as she learns about the ancient stones.

Amal's visit is a ticketed event. You will need to be a ticket holder for the 9:30am entry to Stonehenge. Amal will be at the stones from approximately 9:30am to 10:00am and appear for just half an hour.

Amir Nizar Zuabi, Artistic Director of The Walk has said:

“It is because the attention of the world is elsewhere right now that it is more important than ever to reignite the conversation about the refugee crisis and to change the narrative around it. Yes, refugees need food and blankets, but they also need dignity and a voice. The purpose of The Walk is to highlight the potential of the refugee, not just their dire circumstances. Little Amal is 3.5 metres tall because we want the world to grow big enough to greet her. We want her to inspire us to think big and to act bigger.”

In September this year, Amal heads to New York City via JFK Airport. She will travel through all five boroughs, meeting artists, civic leaders, community groups, and young New Yorkers of all backgrounds.
