New venue found for Salisbury LGBTQ+ youth groups
The groups return in a couple of weeks
A new venue has been found for LGBTQ+ youth groups to re-launch in Salisbury in July.
The George and Dragon on Castle Street will now host the monthly groups which had began in February this year.
The re-launch is timely as it is currently Pride month.
Sessions begin on Thursday 13th July, with the 11-16 group at 4:30pm to 6pm and the 16+ group from 6:30pm to 8pm.
The groups allow young people to meet, participate in activities and chat with the team of professionally trained staff and support volunteers of Salisbury City Council Communities team.
They provide a dedicated space to many young people who are working their way through their thoughts and feelings regarding their sexuality, with a safe space to share them.
A parent of a transitioned daughter said, “If a group like this had existed when my daughter was transitioning, we would have welcomed it with open arms.”
Sessions for the younger children allow them to engage in activities such as board games and artwork, with the older group focusses around building friendships in a relaxed environment.
