Larkhill schoolboy preparing to climb Three Peaks for little brother
9-year-old Harry Byrne is already a fundraising legend!
A 9-year-old boy from Larkhill is preparing for his latest fundraising challenge - climbing the UK's three biggest mountains!
Harry Byrne has already raised £95,000 for children's hospices Naomi House and Julia's House.
They cared for his little brother Reuben before he died.
Harry wants to break the £100,000 barrier with latest challenge, alongside his Dad and says he's 'really nervous', having trained with bike rides and some hill walks.
He explains why he keeps the fundraising going:
"I want to raise lots of money for the hospices because they looked after Reuben and I want them to help care for other people."
Harry's completed walks covering the distance between the Wiltshire and Hampshire children's hospices in the past, trekked the equivalent distance to the moon with a team of supporters, collected Christmas presents for kids having care at the centres and done the Yorkshire Three Peaks previously.
He started his fundraising efforts at the age of 6 and says he'll 'carry on forever'.
He's received national recognition for that hard work, including a WellChild award and last month, a Who Cares Wins prize from the Sun newspaper.
Harry's latest effort brings his family full circle too - his parents completed the same challenge in memory of their daughter Olivia.
She passed away aged eight months, from the same life-limiting condition as Reuben.
Mum Sophie was actually four weeks pregnant with Harry when she climbed the mountains!
Harry and his dad Sean are setting off up their first mountain on Friday (20 October) with the aim of completing all three over the weekend.
